We had 100+ pieces arrangements in total. I just posted some of them here to let my friends see them first!
I have been growing orchids for 15+ years now. In 2008, I took my first lesson in Sogetsu Ikebana. For me, growing orchids and creating Ikebana arrangements are my meditation. I created this blog to share my pictures and ideas with you. It is like my JOURNAL and helps me keep track of my progress.

Workshop with Kawana Sensei (2) - Power of Movement - “WIND”
Kawana Sensei’s demonstration on 10/15/2024 |
Expressing on a “Movement” arrangement |
Even my gentle wind arrangement needed a little more expression! So Sensei bent down a grass. |
Few days later, the pampas grass dried up. I rearranged the same materials. Did it expressing the same movement ? |

Long awaited “Ikebana International 19th North & Central American Regional Conference” (NCARC) finally approached, from 10/13 to 10/18/2024. I was registered earlier to secure Kawana Sensei’s workshops. Master Kawana is internationally renowned for his exhibits and workshops in Europe, Asia, North America and Australia. He is a Master instructor of the Sogetsu headquarters. For more than fifty years, Kawana Sensei has taught and demonstrated ikebana throughout the world. His work embraces flower arranging, stage design, sculpture and installation art, using natural materials in unexpected ways.

“In Love with Fall” Arrangement
October 6, 2024, Ikebana exhibit finally approached at Talamore Country Club, Ambler, PA. I was invited by BuxMount Study Group to participate in the Shanghai Association Greater Philadelphia annual gala. There were only six pieces of Ikebana style arrangements, the center pieces and other arrangements were western style. What a different scene! (200+ people attended)
“In Love with Fall” (秋色宜人) was my title for this arrangement. After all it is the autumn season, gorgeous scenery right now! I used a lot of Chrysanthemums, golden maple, azalea, nandina and bittersweet for final touch. Mitsumata on two ceramic containers, carefully arranged all together, displayed on a six foot table.
