October's Class - Branch Structures And Free Style Using Autumn Materials

Finally we could put Blooms and Bamboo temporarily aside, and go back to a normal schedule again. But every Thursday has been our duty to go to Longwood to maintain the arrangements, until the closing date November 17.

Lessons for October: Morning and afternoon lessons
In the morning: Making branch structures, and arrangement. A class member's friend generously offered our class a wonderful selection of branches from a dead maple tree. We went outside to look at the selection, and then after Hata Sensei's demo, we created our arrangements. (10/21/2019)

Lemoto Akane Teshigahara Workshop

The Blooms and Bamboo event programs end with Lemoto Akane Teshigahara's workshop (10/4/2019). The tickets sold out really fast, limited to a total of 50 people, and only for advanced students or certified teachers to attend Lemoto's workshop. I was so delighted to be part of this workshop. This was a rare opportunity to learn from Sogetsu Lemoto Akane Teshigahara. I didn't have to fly to Japan for this experience!

The materials put on my table were three chrysanthemums and five flax leaves. Everyone brought their own container, without knowing what were the provided materials, I brought two containers, in this case, I choose a smaller one for my arrangement. After 35 minutes, Lemoto Akane gave every arrangement a critique. I got a very good comments: The line, dimension, height and flower's position were all right and very nice...It made my day, so happy!

Lemoto Akane Teshigahara Demonstration 6 of 6

The demonstration by Headmaster of Sogetsu Lemoto Akane Teshigahara (10/3/2019).
The local Sogetsu teachers, students and friends were all allowed to attend the event with the purchased tickets. The room was full. We were busy for these two weeks. Being volunteers to set up, doing Ikebana arrangement and social parties. Finally, we could sit down to watch and enjoy the demonstration by the Lemoto Akane Teshigahara. We were very lucky and felt privileged to be there, like a dream come true, to meet the Sogetsu top-notch person and to see her demonstration!

So sorry for these photos, I took it in a rush and poor lighting!

This is the finished one.

This is the last piece of the demo, rather big arrangement,
the finished composition I will post next time.
