April Class Lesson 3 - Freestyle Arrangement for Exhibition

Lesson (3): Freestyle arrangement practice for 4/29/ 2022 exhibition. As a member of Mainline Study Group, I volunteered to participate in the exhibition along with other 12 members, we will have our arrangements display at People’s Light and Theatre. So, Hata Sensei went over each arrangement and gave advice to correct them. She said my arrangement format was good but should have less materials to emphasize the structure! I totally agreed, and by the time of the exhibit my arrangement will totally change without altering the structure.

April Class Lesson 2 - Horizontal Composition

Lesson (2) : Horizontal Composition, book 3-2.  My arrangement for this one is rather simple, less materials. Azalea is one of my favorite plant materials. I also like to use seasonal flowers.

Material: Azalea, daffodil, mum and a piece of driftwood / ceramic moribana vase  (4/14/2022, Hata Sensei’s class Lesson #2)

April Class Lesson 1 - Freestyle Using All Yellow Arrangement

Lesson 1: Freestyle using only yellow forsythia, daffodils, tulips etc. Unfortunately my forsythia flowers are almost gone, they are turning green. But I still have plenty of daffodils to use.  (4/14/2022, Hata Sensei’s class Lesson #1)

Hata Sensei’s demo arrangement

My arrangement at home, daffodils and billy button (Craspedia)

In class I used daffodils, billy button and mum

Another Self made Basket and arrangement

I made another basket using leftover reeds. I also used the same flowers, but the forsythia will start to turn green soon! Probably not enough yellow flowers for the next class subject “Using Forsythia and daffodil all yellow” arrangement. So, I tried my best doing this one. (Please see my 3/25 blog, similar arrangement)

Splendid Spring - Horizontal Style

Since I have all the spring flower materials in my garden, I would like to use them for an arrangement which I named “Splendid Spring”. It’s a horizontal style. The materials for this arrangement were Japanese quince, daffodils, azalea and cherry blossom / ceramic container with metal stand (4/5/2022)

Chabana for Tokonoma Using Japanese quince

My Japanese quince bushes are in full bloom finally!  I have been waiting long enough!  But I only cut one perfect branch, trimmed to suit a small ceramic vase for the chabana arrangement.

The hand made ceramic vase was a gift from my dear friend

Moribana Freestyle - Japanese quince and Hellebore

Upright freestyle moribana: Using Japanese quince and Hellebore (Lenten rose).  They are blooming beautifully in my garden right now. The Japanese quince can last for a while but not hellebore, after I cut and arranged them in the vase, the Lenten rose wilted the next day.
