Blue Hydrangea and Container

The container can accentuate the beauty of the arrangement, indeed! I always consider how the materials and container I select can complement each other.

A blue ceramic vase was my choice to go with a big head of blue hydrangea, and I arranged them with the same old twig and a piece of tree bark. I played around with them to have different look!

Summer Orchids Bloom

The other day I went to my backyard orchids site, and I discovered I have three orchids in bloom already! Wow! I was so surprised 😲! I didn’t expect that to happen, because it has been so hot and dry plus I haven’t been taking good care of them. So, I am extremely happy 😃.Thanks god 🙏

Summer Flowers with Twig

When I spot an interesting fallen twig on the park ground, I always collect it for later use. The yellow, pink and purple daylily I haven’t used them for Ikebana yet. Now, I have twig, daylily, daisies and wild yellow Queen Ann lace I just picked, all are enough for me to make a summer arrangement with.

Butterfly and Yellow Finch are coming back

In my front garden, there are a large group of cornflowers, we regrouped them a few years ago. They don’t have any defect this year (please see last year July’s blog), and are blooming beautifully! It’s midsummer time already! My feather friends are back, flying around the cornflowers almost every day!

Free Style - Horse Tail

Horsetails will be used as the main part of the materials for this arrangement. I would like to show you how to line it up one by one using wire to put them together.  The same technique that I had learned and helped, when making with interwoven strips of bamboo for the last month’s “Bamboo Sculpture” which displayed at the PHS (Pennsylvania Horticulture Society) Flower Show.

I have plenty of the materials in my garden to make this arrangement and this white ceramic container is my choice.

Kohlrabi Leaves

I bought some local grown kohlrabi vegetables which I intended to make soup with. They were so fresh and big, their leaves attracted my eyes! I could make an Ikebana out of that leaves. I came out with an idea using hydrangea and Madi gras flowers, a ceramic Tsubo vase would go with these materials. Please see my arrangement below:

Fern with Zinnia

Fern (Ostrich fern?) is perennial plant, it dies down during the Winter but comes back every year and could multiply more and more! I used the fern again as my main materials. I also picked some zinnia and  wisteria vines to create an arrangement. What do you think with or without the vines would look better?

Ikebana with lacecap Hydrangea

I like to show off my new containers, they are purple glass vases, signed by the artist “Ken Benson LS”.

I want to use these new found containers with lacecap hydrangeas which are in full bloom in my garden now. Both flowers and vases have the same purple color tone. I arranged them as one composition.

My Summer Perennial Garden

It’s the first time my day lilies have not been eaten by deers. Finally, I can see how many different colors I have! I often like to use any flowers available in my garden to make an arrangement.
