My sand cherry tree needed to be trimmed for a better shape. I saved some branches to be used for an arrangement. It’s a dark purple color with a yellow gold Lily and Euonymus to create a contrasting effect.

My Journal
My blog is like my JOURNAL, it is in chronological order. During the week of the Philadelphia Flower Show, my husband and I were visiting my son and daughter’s family in Rhinebeck, in upstate New York. Actually, we had a mission 😊! We had been digging up our over crowded plants from our garden, and had almost a vanload of irises, coneflowers, lariope, daffodil bulbs, hellebore, nandina, peony, rose of Sharon, young dogwood, willow, etc., all ready for transportation. Then we drove three hours with all these plants to our daughter’s new home. Everyone helped to plant everything in needed garden spots. It took us 3 days to finish the job. Eventually it will improve the garden’s outlook. Here's hoping for the best. (6/20/2022)

The Sculptures at Philadelphia Flower Show
Like last year, the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show was staged outdoors in FDR Park once again, running from June 11 to 19, 2022. The Ikebana International Philadelphia Chapter was assigned four sculptures, two for Sogetsu Mainline, one for Sogetsu BuxMont, one for Ohara. The theme was “In Full Bloom, showcasing the restorative and healing powers of nature.” I was there twice to help out a little during set up time, before officially opening to the public.
I have been visiting my children’s family in upstate New York for a week ever since. The pictures were provided from my friend. Please see below:

Composition Using Unconventional Materials - Final Class of The Season
June 9, 2022 was our final class of the season. We have only one lesson to prepare for, which will be followed by the traditional June potluck luncheon. Classes will resume in September. The subject is in book 5-7 (please see the title). “Use non plant materials to explore a composition which cannot be made in an ordinary arrangement of plants.” Only compose with unconventional materials. I used three metallic materials to compose a sculpture. The first two pictures show my composition, and the rest are some of my classmates' arrangements.

Peony Garden and Arrangement
A week ago, there were some peonies still remaining in my garden, now there are only a few left! This arrangement was made on 6/3/2022, using many of the varieties of peonies while they were available. I combined them with hosta and daylily leaves.

Japanese Iris Garden and Arrangements
I have been busy mending my garden since May: edging, mulching, thinning bushes, trimming trees and planting some annual flowers, because my garden will be one of 12 other gardens to be shown by our MWGC garden walk (6/8/2022). This is our major fundraiser for student scholarships.
Time goes by so fast! I have to find some time to make ikebana arrangements using iris and peony. They fade away before you realize it!
