The theme of this show is "Holland: Flowering the World." The flower show celebrates the beauty of the Dutch landscape, displays the Dutch contributions to the botanical world and highlights the country's technological advances in green energy, starting with windmills. As you may not know, this is the 188th Philadelphia flower show, the largest indoor flower show in the world. Set on 10 indoor acres in the Philadelphia convention hall. The show supports the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) urban tree planting programs and city harvest which grows and supplies food to the underprivileged.
Entering the show, all you see is tulips, tulips everywhere! There were more than 30 thousand tulips and other bulbs running in a rainbow of carpets. The show is spectacular. I was on volunteer duty for the first rotation (3 rotations in total) of Ikebana's display section. When off duty, I had the chance to view most of the show. It was breathtaking and beautiful!
