Daylily Arrangement #2 - Horizontal Style

It’s a long planned family reunion vacation time finally approaching! It’s a week long, away from home overseas Spain vacation (7/21 to 7/29/2023). I thought I would like to have the very last one arrangement before I went. So, I was wondering around my garden and picked some materials, I made a horizontal arrangement because of the container I chose.

Materials: Daylily, climbing hydrangea, balloon flower, philodendron and drift wood / ceramic container 

Arranged at 7/20/2023 before I went to the Spain 🇪🇸 Barcelona  

 

Daylily Arrangement #1

I have six different colors of daylily plants.  The most common one is golden yellow Stella, always blooms first among the other kinds. The flowers bloom only a day, that’s why they’re called Daylily. 😊

Materials: Daylily, Iris leaves, and Helenium “Mardi gras or sneezeweed” / ceramic vase

Summer Heat- Let’s Cool Down a Bit

It’s middle of July, it has not rained for a long while! A one time thunderstorm and heavy rain were not enough for my garden and grass. In this scorching summer, I hope my all white arrangement could bring a little bit cool in the air!

Dancing Lady Oncidium Orchid and Sunflower

I made another arrangement using leftover flowers after I came back from summer camp. The dancing lady orchid and sunflower were still looking okay!  For this arrangement I picked my favorite ceramic tsubo vase.  (7/6/2023)

Progress for Upcoming Ikebana Exhibition - Summer Garden

For upcoming Ikebana exhibition at TAC/EC Summer Camp, we have to get ready and set up for 7/1/2023. Each participant is required to make two arrangements with titles.  It’s very nice that all flower materials are provided by the Ikebana organizer of conference. We just ordered what we needed. 

The first arrangement- Summer Garden

Materials: Sunflower, aster, feverfew and viburnum branch with berries  / basket on ceramic/wooden base (7/1/2023 to 7/4/2024)

The second arrangement: Dancing Lady （快樂的舞娘）

Materials: Dancing lady oncidium orchid, hydrangea, lily, philodendron and drift wood / ceramic container. 

For my two arrangements, I just ordered flowers that I needed, the others I could find around my garden. 

Ikebana Exhibition at TAC/EC Summer Camp

As I mentioned before, Ikebana has become one of the many programs at the Summer camp for many years. Few of us are the Ikebana certified Sogetsu teachers. We participated in an Ikebana exhibition, workshop and demonstration.

The 52nd TAC/EC, TANG Summer Camp

From 7/1 to 7/4, 2023 Taiwanese American Conference / East Coast (TAC /EC) was held at the West Chester University, in a Philadelphia suburb. This is a good location for the east coast Taiwanese immigrants living between Boston Mass. to Virginia to hold a yearly convention.  This organization has been over fifty years since the year of 1970. We are the first generations and we have been passing down to our next generations for 20 years, for continuing to our Taiwanese heritages, identity and traditions. Therefore, the Taiwanese American Next Generation “TANG” was formed.  Now, we hold the event together annually at the weekend of Fourth of July holiday ever since, except the years of 2021 and 2022, due to COVID-19 pandemic.     

This Summer, we drew 700+ people to the conference, not only for families, but also for classmates a reunion, meeting old friends, making new friends and having fun vacation together, and also to discuss or learn all kinds of subjects that suit you. The theme for this year is “Protecting our Homeland: Taiwan and US Standing Together.”
