Looking back I still think it was an honor and thrill to participate in the Philadelphia flower show. After all, this is a long established, well known flower show. Even though the Ikebana section is in a small portion of the area, compared to the huge convention center, it always attracts many people (especially for the Ikebana lovers). They stand in front of the arrangement to admire, enjoy, study or something else…

Lesson (3) - Free Style
For the third lesson, we did a freestyle arrangement in the afternoon. Although there are no rules for freestyle, and I have been learning all about Ikebana for all those years, I know what is right and what is wrong when doing an Ikebana arrangement.
For this arrangement, I picked a flowering pear tree’s budding branches, purchased a bunch of white lily, goosefoot house plant and anthurium, then I selected a proper ceramic container. At the end, Hata Sensei gave me a good evaluation! She said I had a very nice arrangement with depth. That made my day!

Basic Upright Style Nageire Reversed - (2)
Lesson for March (2): Practice basic upright nageire reversed. My branches Shin, Soe and flower Hikae were all in right positions. But Hata Sensei said my branches (Japanese quince) were too thin, not strong enough, she gave me her pussy willow to add in. The arrangement looked much better and prettier! (3/21/2023)
Lesson for March (1) - Composition Expressing on a Movement
Three class lessons for March: (1) "Create a composition by developing its idea from a verb of movement." In the textbook, 5-18 lesson, there are a few photographic examples about verbs indicating movement like roll, fall, overflow, fly, dance.
When I explained to the class, I said my arrangement is like a tornado blowing away! They all laughed! Hate Sensei gave me good comments. (3/21/2023)

MWGC Virtual Little Show - Parallel Design
The theme this month is “Wind Power: Three or more groupings in a single container in a parallel manner showing movement.”
Thanks for the reminder, it’s just in time for me to enter my garden club’s virtual little show. It’s a parallel design. Luckily, I still have some flowers left over from the flower show. Some daffodils are blooming too, thanks to the warm weather!

The 2nd rotation of Ikebana arrangements were displayed from 3/7 to 3/9/2023. These photos were taken when I was there waiting to change hands to set up my arrangement for the 3rd rotation.
