My Back Yard Garden (2)

Within only a week, my back yard garden has become so colorful! Looking through my glass sliding door to outside every morning, it makes me feel joyful and appreciative. Mother nature makes me humble and touches my heart.

My Back Yard Garden (1)

Today is May 23, 2020, the rain showers on and off all day. My gardens are looking luscious and beautiful! Japanese Irises are in full bloom, peonies just about to bust open! I toke some pictures when the rain stopped. Wishing everyone can enjoy them as much as I do!

The Second Tree Peony Arrangement

This is my second arrangement using tree peony flower. The only two tree peonies I transplanted from my old house three years ago. They are healthier and have more flowers this year. They bloom two weeks earlier than regular peony, which I have many of them and are all budding now.

The First Tree Peony Arrangement

I always love using seasonal materials, and right now, nature is giving me lots of flowers to use! This is the first blooming tree peony. I also used buttercup, Billy ball (craspedia), Solomon's seal, and wisteria vine. I really like this arrangement! And for a little bit contrast color I added some small blue flowers that look like forget-me-not (I don't know their name).

First tried without small blue flowers / ceramic vase

Azalia and Weigela Arrangement

The wave of Spring flowers come and go. Now, Azalia is in full bloom! Iris and Peony are the next wave that I am waiting for. Not only I can enjoy the blooms but also I can use Spring materials to create Ikebana arrangements. Especially time like this Covid-19 Pandemic chaos.

Two similar hanging style arrangements here; which one do you like better?

Orchids Bloom in May - Surprised

How I got this Cattleya orchid, I don't remember! But it had bloomed only once. I checked my blog, that was 5 years ago. When it was budding I didn't know it was pure white. That surprised me and was truly joyful! (5/8/2020)
C. Phaius Jun Shirashi

The Paphiopedilum "Pinocchio" lady slipper orchid had stopped blooming for many years. It is a sequential flowers with beautiful mottled petal. It is just like Pinocchio's nose, one slipper falls and another one appears, and the stem grows longer and longer, but it's not lying, I promise!

Photo from April 4th--it took one month to bloom.

Haiku - Spring

I saw a robin jumping around in my front garden. I caught it on top of a trellis singing! A Haiku flashed in my head! Here it is:

Robin's singing
Spring is in the air
Peace in mind

And then, I thought of my classmate who writes Haikus beautifully! When she sent out a monthly newsletter about our study group's class lesson with Hata Sensei.
I asked her to modify my Haiku.  Here is her version:

Outside robin's song
Spring's melody floats in air
Inspires peace in mind
