I have only one double petal tulip plant left in my garden. The rest of the other tulips I planted two years ago all disappeared! I don’t know why!? This only tulip flower is so big and showy! I cut it out and arranged it with daffodil leaves in a tall ceramic vase.

Small but cute arrangement in my new, but old Japanese ceramic vase. The forsythia branches and other tree branches are slowly covered with new green now!
Spring is in the air! The weather is gradually getting warmer! The park with open fields and surroundings are full of lush greenery. Daffodils are everywhere! Cherry blossoms, Japanese quince, sand cherry, Eastern redbud and....are so colorful in my garden (please see previous post). It’s a pity, beautiful things are always short lived!

The lesson for April's zoom class (4/19/2021) will be taught by our own class member Sarah instead of Hata Sensei. Because she just got promoted to the higher level/rank Komon (as did Marcia our chairperson), Marcia conducted the last month’s zoom class (they substitute just for March and April).
The subject for this month is using both Fresh and Unconventional materials. I tried a couple of arrangements, my final one that I like the most was using soft wire and foam rings with fresh Lenten roses (Hellebores) arranged in a cascading style.

My son’s family came to visit us during the Easter holiday weekend from upstate New York. We have not seen them since last June, because of the COVID pandemic. My husband and I have received our vaccinations already. So, all of us are feeling a kind of relief and a lot of joy seeing each other, especially our two teenage grandchildren, whom are growing so much taller! My daughter-in-law brought me a potted tulip plant. I was so glad to use them to make an Ikebana arrangement.

The plants, Lenten Rose are not roses at all but a hellebore hybrid. They are perennial flowers, blooming in late winter and early spring. They are in full bloom right now in my front garden.
