The 7th Annual Exhibition - My Arrangement

“The Road Not Taken” is my title for my arrangement. It’s from a famous classic poem by Robert Frost, if you know the poem, you might know why I named it for my title. My idea is behind it.

I think I did well, even though I have to arrange from behind. There were around 50 audience in the room,  they seemed to like my vines arrangement! (11/5/2022)

Preparing for Exhibition

Busy October has passed! The Buxmout Study Group annual exhibition is approaching (11/5/2022).  It’s time to put my ikebana ideas into action. I have three arrangements to think about, one for display, one for raffle and the other one for demonstration.

For my demonstration; I was assigned to use VINE. I am thinking about using two kinds of different vines which are wisteria and bittersweet, both are easy to get, they are just from my back yard. But the design idea is still in the air.

I might use this idea for display, but will be a different arrangement.

This arrangement might be used for raffle:

Magnificent Tree

This is a maple tree that belongs to my next door neighbor. In only a few days, the tree changed from dull and ordinary to these vibrant, orange colors. Look at the pictures, it’s strikingly gorgeous!

Sogetsu New York 50th Anniversary

The Sogetsu New York Branch celebrate their belated 50th anniversary with an exhibition, demonstration, reception and workshop. I registered to attend, because of the guest instructor, Ilse Beunen, and I would like to meet her in person. Besides my daughter promised to go with me as a special date. So, I was there to witness all the wonderful demonstrations she made. Every piece was so creative and inspirational. Thank you, Ilse Sensei! Also thanks to her husband, a skillful photographer! (They are from Belgium.)

Besides Ilse Beunen’s demo pieces, there were more arrangements to enjoy. All from the members of the New York Sogetsu Branch, lead by Judith Hata Sensei. I had the chance to meet her my Sensei and saw her beautiful arrangements too.  (10/21/2022)
