Dried, Bleached, or Colored Materials - Two Arrangements

One of the subjects for November class lesson will be “ Thanksgiving /Autumnal Arrangement using Dried, Bleached, or Colored Materials”.  As always, I will try a couple of times to make an arrangement at home before class. Looking around, my eyes found a new gourd for the container this time. Since I have all the dried materials that I collected before, the only fresh one is the white chrysanthemum from my garden.  So, I made two arrangements at home.  (11/11/2023)

Thanksgiving Arrangement Using Dried Materials

I gathered all the dried materials that I could find surrounding my house. I used some of them with fresh fruits, mum and maple in a big black suiban. I thought it was too much! But it’s really bountiful!😄 (11/7/2023)

My Arrangement for The 8th Annual Exhibition - Autumn Fest ( 秋宴）

I had been thinking about what kind of arrangement I could create for the 8th annual exhibition.  So, I tried to arrange a couple times. But one thing for sure was that I would like to use persimmons in the arrangement and with the title “Autumn fest” ( 秋宴). 

Materials: Mock orange branches, two kinks of mums, persimmons, pine, nandina and euonymus / tall glass vase.  (10 /28/ 2023)

Sogetsu BuxMont Study Group - The 8th Annual Ikebana Exhibition 2023

The 8th Annual Exhibition was held on October 28, 2023. It was a gorgeous warm Saturday, attracting many people to see the beautiful Ikebana display. So many people gave many positive comments!

“Love for Ikebana” was this year’s theme. The program included member’s arrangements, six teachers’ demonstrations and raffles. For me, it was a busy, tired, but very rewarding day!

Glass Vase And Winter Berry

It’s fall, it’s berry season! Winter berry bushes, crepe myrtle trees, nandina bushes are all having their beautiful berries in my garden right now. Also many bittersweet are popping up in the wild. They are good sources of the Ikebana materials for the fall season. (10/29/2023)

“Ground for Sculptures”

Ikebana International Philadelphia Chapter's October program was taking a trip to “Grounds for Sculpture" located in Hamilton, New Jersey. Whoever signed up for the trip would meet at the entrance. It only took us 20 minutes to get there. We all had a private tour to explore the art and sculpture in the beautiful garden. If you wish to have lunch, there is a French restaurant situated next to Monet’s garden! 

It’s a warm and beautiful autumn day for outing! There were so much to see and a lot of walking. My husband and I were just too tired to completely see the entire garden, so we would like to go again in the future. Here are just a few photos that I took for example for you to have some ideas.  I like how the sculptures are placed in the right spot in this 42-acre grounds of sculpture park and museum.  (10/26/2023)
