Fall Bloom Orchids

September’s class was my last lessons at Sogetsu MainLine Branch. I said goodbye to my dear classmates, I felt a little sad to leave this class, after all we have been together for 11 years under Hata Sensei’s guidance. But after I have moved to Rhinebeck, New York, near my children, I will still have Hata Sensei to be my teacher! I will join her class at Pound Ridge, NY. I am so excited and lucky. I still can learn Ikebana! Time goes by so quickly! The moving day is just around the corner. In November, we will be continuing our new chapter of golden years with totally different place and surroundings.

Time to Post My Orchids

I just realized what a busy schedule I have in June! Besides doctor’s appointments and class lessons. I also attended I.I. Philadelphia Chapter #71’s event for 60th anniversary celebration luncheon, and went to Brandywine Museum of art to check the site, which MainLine branch will be holding an annual exhibition in the last week of this month.  I have no mood to do Ikebana during this time period!  But it’s time to post my orchids, they are blooming all around from April to June now.  Five are Oncidium orchids, only one is Cattleya (Apple Blossom). Some faded and some are still going strong.

Winter Orchids Bloom - Two Oncidium Orchids

In this midwinter season, my sunroom (or Ikebana room) is showing some colors of orchid plants. There are not only two oncidium orchids in full bloom, but I also see some other orchid spikes too! 😊

March and April Orchids Bloom

My orchids collection have not been flowering like they used to! I know I have not paid much attention to them, and that's the reason for the most part. I devote more time to Ikebana than mending the orchids.

November Orchids Bloom - Happy Thanksgiving

From October to now, three Cattleya orchids have been fading away. But “Xenia” orchid (second picture) has been in bloom for a long while. Gladly, two oncidium and two phalaenopsis orchids are on the way (they are budding). I have a lot to be thankful for, and this is one of them. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Winterizing the Orchids

It’s time for my orchids to winterize. Some October nights are turning really cold! I have to bring all my orchids inside (10/7/2022).  I discovered that four of my orchid plants are budding at the same time. What a joy!

Orchids Bloom for Summer

This summer has been so hot, dry and humid! My lawn is turning brown and the garden looks dull! We really need a soaking rain! Even so, I still have three orchids in bloom. One oncidium orchid bloomed in July, another two Cattleya orchids “Roman Holiday” are blooming right now.

May Orchids Bloom

The three pots of Cattleya orchids have been blooming for more than a month now! The identical plants were from me dividing them. I have had them for many years. They are long-living Cattleya orchids!

January Orchids Bloom and Lunar New Year Celebration

Today is the last day of the January. When I woke up this morning, the thermometer outside was pointing to 0 degree F !!! We had a major snow storm two days ago, 7 inches here, 30 inches in Boston area!

Today is also Lunar New Year, the year of the tiger. Unfortunately we had to cancel our family members’ gathering celebration because of the snow storm! But my Cymbidium and Oncidium orchids are blooming beautifully and smell so pleasant for the new year to come. 🎉🥂🧧
