Contemporary Design

Because my Phalaenopsis orchid plant fell off my kitchen counter (small pot, big flower), the beautiful flower stem broke; my heart was broken. I had to use it for today's class. So my idea was to use black painted twigs and the white Phalaenopsis in a black tall vase. I made sure the twigs were tall enough this time. (2/21/2012)

I bought this small bamboo fence from Taiwan last month. This is the only idea that I can think of so far, using bitter sweet and dried roses. This is my own initiative. (2/14/2012)

February Orchids Bloom

After I was absent three weeks away from home last month, I was so happy and excited to see all my orchids were fine and some were blooming (I watered them more and lowered the room temperature to 60F degrees before leaving).
I brought 6 orchid plants to BCOS 's meeting tonight (2/16/2012). My Cymbidiums always get 1st place.

Cymbidium "Moonstone" It has three stems. This was a subdivided from a previously crowded plant which had 12 flower stems last year, it's so striking!
These Cymbidiums I can't trace their original name.
Left:Brassia Winter Wonderland " white fairy." It has 5 flowers. This is a subdivision of the one I posted last November that bloomed. It had 7 flowers. This one is blooming now. Right: Bllra. Tahoma Glacier "Green" 3 flowers, first time blooming.

Left: Cattleya. Name unknown.
Right: Dendrobium. Spring Dream "Kumiko"

Paper Wrapping Design 1

This is my make up work for my absence in class last month. The teacher's assignment was to use wrapping paper as part of the design. I wrapped a sheet of dark paper around a glass vase and pasted two small Japanese flower designed papers on top, it looks very Japanese.
At last I arranged the Nandina, Cymbidium flower, leaves and some berry branches in the paper wrapping designed container.
Below are two examples my teacher sent to us:
